This simple sketch is able to capture the feel for a proposed sculpture intended to commemorate the patron saint of a parish: St. Frances of Rome.
Coat of Arms Crest Window, Bishop's Residence of the Diocese of Las Vegas
This detail (left) is from a large entry door surround of cast stone and depicts St. Isidore the Farmer. It is influenced by the work of the great Flemish painter Peter Bruegel the Elder as well some of the imagery of the Catholic Worker. The aggregate texture and feel of the architectural stone medium give it a wonderful earthy sense that is in agreement with the nature of the spiritual subject.
